BANGKOK - Most Thai people were satisfied with the performance of the Assets Examination Committee (AEC) who was determined and committed to its work.
1,012 respondents in Bangkok were surveyed by Bangkok University’s research center.
The AEC got 6.19 out of 10 scores, according to the Krungthep poll.
The Assets Examination Committee (AEC) yesterday won a legal battle in their corruption probe of the then-premier Thaksin Shinawatra.
The AEC was established in 2006 to investigate corruption allegations against Thaksin.
But the Supreme Court questioned whether the AEC still had legal authority to keep working.
The issue was then brought to the Constitutional Court, which ruled that the investigators' work was still legal.
The judges reached a unanimous decision that the AEC did not violate the constitution.
The ruling clears the way for other courts to proceed with corruption cases against Thaksin, with the first trial to begin in July concerning the Rachada land scandal.
Most of the remaining cases are now being considered by prosecutors, who will decide whether to bring them to court.
