Bangkok - The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is attracting Asian airlines to Thailand in a hope to increase the number of tourists. Cebu Pacific Air (CEB) agreed to offer its flights to Chiang Mai.

Mrs. Pornsiri Manoharn, TAT Governor, revealed TAT is negotiating with airlines in Asian region to ask them to fly to Chiang Mai International Airport, denying to give the name of those airlines.

The plan is to distribute tourists to other provinces apart from Bangkok and Phuket.

Cebu Pacific Air, low-cost airline of the Philippines, agreed to provide its flights to Chiang Mai at the end of March.

There are currently seven flights per week from the Philippines to Bangkok.

Its new route opening is set to attract more tourists to Thailand.

Singapore, Australia and Malaysia as well as new markets like the Philippines and Indonesia are considered as the potential groups.

More than 20% growth is targeted for the Philippines.
