BANGKOK - Thawin Intaraksa, who represented the Election Commission (EC) before the court, asked the Supreme Court to consider vote fraud charges against the House Speaker Yongyuth Tiyapairat.
Mr. Thawin submitted his over-1,000-page complaints to the Supreme Court this morning.
The court will decide in the afternoon of Thursday whether to accept the case.
Yongyut Tiyapairat was accused of bribing local officials in Chiang Rai to campaign for his People Power Party (PPP) in December elections.
He has suspended his duties at parliament since the charges were unveiled in late February.
Mr. Thawin gave no comment on a lawsuit against the EC filed by Yongyut’s lawyer.
If convicted, Yongyut could be stripped of his seat in parliament which can lead to a broader investigation by the EC into the operations of the PPP itself.
