Bangkok - The ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra told reporters he would fly back to the United Kingdom on March 13 and would meet Privy Council’s chairman Gen Prem Tinlasunonda if having a chance.
The then-premier gave an interview to news reporters following the PGA Thailand meeting this morning.
"I will ask for the court's permission to travel to Britain on March 13," Thaksin said following a meeting of the Thailand Golf Association.
Previously, it was said the former prime minister refused to attend the meeting by postponing his presence to next year.
Thaksin has unusually kept low-profile since he came back to Thailand on February 28.
The court has ordered Thaksin to appear on March 12 for his trial on corruption charges.
He insisted he would focus on teaching, sports, and charity.
"From now on, I will be a lecturer, not an adviser. Whoever is interested can pick up on my ideas and implement them," he said.
Thaksin gave no comment on People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD)’s movement and shadow PM Samak.
He said people should give time to Samak government before criticizing its performance.
Mr. Warin Buawiratlert, an astrologer in Chiang Mai, said Thailand’s overall politics would be in a relaxing atmosphere and the situation would improve if Thaksin washed his hand of politics.
