Bangkok - Ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra suggested the new government exploit soaring baht and invest in new technologies from abroad.
Thaksin told the Financial Times in an interview that he turned down an offer to advise the new government on economic issues.
"If I were to help the government, I would probably create more problems than (I would) solve," he said.
Finance Minister Surapong Suebwonglee previously said he would ask for the ex-premier’s advices on economic policy.
Thaksin only recommended Samak government should take an advantage of strong baht currency and weak dollar by investing in new technologies and importing capital goods and machinery.
It seems he tries to be low-profile to prove his word that he will stay out of politics.
The ex-premier previously cancelled his planned schedules. He also keeps secret about where he is going to and what he is doing for his own safety.
