BANGKOK - An American man was yesterday arrested in suburban Bangkok for smuggling aromatherapy candles filled with cocaine to Australia, police said.
Thai police cooperated with Australian authorities to arrest Scott James Morcomb, 39, from the northeastern US state of New Jersey, at his home, where two kilograms (4.4 pounds) of marijuana was found, police said.
Morcomb is accused of smuggling cocaine by wrapping 10 to 20 grams of the drug inside aromatherapy candles and shipping them to Australia, according to AFP.
Police believe he made at least 10 such shipments.
Australian authorities believe that Morcomb was responsible for cocaine candles seized in Australia.
He has been charged in Thailand with drugs possession and trafficking, and could face life in prison if convicted, police added.
