สรุปผลรางวัลจากงาน “วิดีโอ เกม อวอร์ดส”ของ Spike TV ในปี 2008 ที่จัดขึ้นในลอส แองเจลิส สหรัฐอเมริกาวานนี้ (15 ธ.ค.) เกมที่ได้รับรางวัลใหญ่สุดของงานก็คือ “รางวัลเกมแห่งปี”นั้นตกเป็นของเกมที่ภาพลักษณ์ขัดแข้งกับสังคมโลกมาตลอดทุกภาค “แกรนด์ เตฟต์ ออกโต้4” (Grand Theft Auto IV) ผลงานสร้างจากทีมร็อก สตาร์ แถมเกมนี้ยังกวาดไปอีก 2 รางวัล ได้แก่รางวัลนักแสดงนำยอดเยี่ยมฝ่ายชายที่ใช้คนจริง “Michael Hollick” รับบทเป็นนิโก้ เบลลิก ตัวเอกเกม และรางวัลเกมแอ็คชัน ผจญภัยยอดเยี่ยม
เกมเด่นถัดมาที่รับไป 3 รางวัลเท่ากับ GTA4 ก็คือ “เมทัล เกียร์ โซลิด4” (Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots) ของเฮียฮิเดโอะ โคจิมะจากค่ายโคนามิ ประกอบด้วยรางวัลนักแสดงนำยอดเยี่ยมฝ่ายหญิงที่ใช้คนจริง “Debbie Mae West” เล่นเป็น Meryl Silverburgh ตามมาด้วยรางวัลสกอร์เพลงดั้งเดิมยอดเยี่ยม และปิดท้ายด้วยรางวัลภาพกราฟิกยอดเยี่ยม
ด้านรางวัลอื่นๆนั้น ก็มีอย่างรางวัลสตูดิโอพัฒนาเกมแห่งปี ตกเป็นของทีม “Media Molecule” ผู้พัฒนาเกม LittleBigPlanet ซึ่งเกมเดียวกันนี้ก็ยังได้รางวัลเกมเครื่อง PS3 ยอดเยี่ยมด้วย ส่วน “Fallout 3” ได้รางวัลเกม RPG ยอดเยี่ยม ขณะที่เกมชูตติ้งจากวาล์ว “Left 4 Dead” รับ 2 รางวัล เกมมัลติเพลย์ยอดเยี่ยมกับพีซียอดเยี่ยม และเกมชูตติ้งยอดเยี่ยมตกเป็นของเกม “Gears of War 2”
