กลุ่มคนไทยในอเมริการ่อนหนังสือถึงโอบามา-ฮิลลารี รวมทั้งวุฒิสภาและคองเกรสสหรัฐฯ เรียกร้องหยุดเคลื่อนไหวออกวีซ่าให้ นช.แม้ว เข้าประเทศ แฉมีบริษัทล็อบบี้ยิสต์พยายามจับมือกับกระทรวงการต่างประเทศสหรัฐฯ รักษาความปลอดภัยและออกวีซ่าให้ ทั้งที่หลบหนีคดีอาญาและเป็นผู้ละเมิดสิทธิมนุษยชนตัวพ่อ ชี้เป็นเรื่องละเอียดอ่อนต่อคนไทยและชาวอเมริกัน
วานนี้ (6 มิ.ย.) มีรายงานว่าเฟซบุ๊ก PAD New England ระบุว่า จากกระแสความตื่นตัวของพี่น้องคนไทยในอเมริกา เมื่อได้รับข่าวว่า พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ ชินวัตร อดีตนายกรัฐมนตรี และผู้ต้องหาหนีคดีอาญาแผ่นดิน จะเดินทางเข้าประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา กลุ่มคนไทยในอเมริกาจึงได้รวบรวมรายชื่อคนไทยในอเมริกา จำนวน 1,115 คน และส่งจดหมายถึงหน่วยงานต่างๆ ของรัฐบาลอเมริกัน ตั้งแต่วันที่ 16 พ.ค. ทั้งทางไปรษณีย์ และอิเล็คโทรนิกส์เมล์ ให้กับนายบารัก โอบามา ประธานาธิบดีสหรัฐฯ, นางฮิลลารี่ คลินตัน รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศสหรัฐฯ, นายจอห์น เคอร์รี ประธานคณะกรรมาธิการด้านนโยบายต่างประเทศของวุฒิสภาสหรัฐฯ, นางไอลีน่า รอส-เลทิเนน ประธานคณะกรรมาธิการการต่างประเทศสภาผู้แทนราษฎรสหรัฐฯ, นางคริสตี้ เอ. เคนนี่ย์ เอกอัครราชทูตสหรัฐอเมริกาประจำประเทศไทย รวมทั้งอัยการสูงสุดรัฐแคลิฟอร์เนีย วอชิงตัน ดีซี อิลลินอยส์ แมสซาชูเซตส์ นิวยอร์ค และเท็กซัส วุฒิสมาชิกของแต่ละรัฐ และสมาชิกสภาผู้แทนราษฎรของแต่ละรัฐ ทั้งนี้ พี่น้องคนไทยในอเมริกาได้รับหนังสือตอบรับที่ดีจากหน่วยงานบางส่วนของรัฐบาลอเมริกัน นอกจากนี้ พี่น้องไทยในแต่ละรัฐ ก็ยังคงดำเนินการจัดส่งจดหมายอย่างต่อเนื่องถึงนักการเมืองในท้องถิ่นของตน
สำหรับสาระสำคัญของจดหมายคือ พวกเขาเชื่อว่า พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณจะเข้ามาลี้ภัยในสหรัฐฯ เพื่อหลบหนีโทษจำคุก 2 ปี และละเมิดสิทธิมนุษยชนจากการฆ่าตัดตอนนอกกระบวนการยุติธรรม โดยได้ว่าจ้างบริษัทล็อบบี้ยีสต์รายใหญ่ของสหรัฐฯ วิ่งเต้นสร้างความสนใจแก่เขาในสหรัฐฯ โดยบ่งชี้ว่าบริษัทเหล่านี้ได้ร่วมกับเจ้าหน้าที่กระทรวงการต่างประเทศของสหรัฐฯ ในการรักษาความปลอดภัยและออกวีซ่าให้ พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ ซึ่งตามกฎหมายของสหรัฐฯ ห้ามบุคคลที่มีประวัติอาชญากรรมเข้าประเทศ จึงเรียกร้องให้ทางการสหรัฐฯ ตรวจสอบและให้ความมั่นใจว่าจะไม่มีการออกวีซ่าให้กับ พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ นอกจากนี้พวกเขาเชื่อมั่นในกฎหมายของสหรัฐฯ เช่นเดียวกับที่พวกเขารังเกียจการคอรัปชั่นในประเทศไทย การบริหารประเทศโดยนางสาวยิ่งลักษณ์ ชินวัตร นายกรัฐมนตรี ก่อให้เกิดความเสียหายอย่างมหาศาลจากการบริหารประเทศที่ไร้ความสามารถ เกิดภาวะเงินเฟ้อ
กรณีการออกวีซ่าให้ พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณนั้นเป็นเรื่องละเอียดอ่อนต่อคนไทยและชาวอเมริกัน คนไทยทั่วประเทศกำลังจับตามองสหรัฐฯ ว่าจะทำตามข้อเรียกร้องในฐานะผู้นำของโลกในด้านจริยธรรม คุณธรรมของหลักการประชาธิปไตย ต่อต้านการทุจริตและปัญหาสิทธิมนุษยชน เพื่อปกป้องชื่อที่ดีของรัฐบาลสหรัฐฯ ทั้งนี้ ได้เรียกร้องให้ทางการสหรัฐฯ ปฏิเสธการขอวีซ่าเพื่อ พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณใน 3 เหตุผล คือ เพื่อให้เป็นไปกฎหมายของสหรัฐอเมริกา มาตรฐานทางศีลธรรมและจริยธรรม เพื่อหลีกเลี่ยงผลกระทบด้านความสัมพันธ์และการสูญเสียจากความปรารถนาดีและความถูกต้องกับคนไทยในกรณีที่มีการจลาจลแบบอาหรับสปริงเพื่อต่อต้านรัฐบาลปัจจุบัน และเพื่อให้อเมริกาต้องการที่จะยืนหยัดหลักการประชาธิปไตย การเคารพกฎหมายและสิทธิมนุษยชน ทางการสหรัฐฯจะต้องไม่อนุญาตให้ พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ เข้าประเทศสหรัฐฯ

An Open Letter to Deny Thaksin Shinawatra’s Entry to the U.S.
As U.S. citizens from Thailand and as your constituents and supporters, we are writing you this letter to voice our very deep concerns about the position of the United State Government regarding the ex-Prime Minister of Thailand, Thaksin Shinawatra.
We have strong reason to believe that Thaksin Shinawatra is trying to gain entrance to the United States. He is a fugitive who has been evading a two-year prison sentence for corruption while holding public office in Thailand. Furthermore, he has also evaded prosecution of multiple cases in which he was indicted on charges of corruption, bribery, tax evasion, abuse of power, and well documented extra-judicial killings and countless violations of human rights of Thai citizens. More than 2,500 citizens, including innocent children, were murdered because of the heavy handed policies of the war on drugs and anti-Muslim policies of his regime. The details of all these cases are on file with Thailand’s National Human Rights Commission, as have been reported by Shawn Crispin of Asia Times on October 13, 2006. Some of the examples are the killing of 9-year old, Nong Fluke, by the Thai police on February 23, 2003, during the war on drugs campaign; the Tak Bai incident on October 25, 2004 where 78 Thai Muslim civilians died from suffocation after being hand cuffed and stacked on top of each other for over three hours.
Thaksin Shinawatra is known to have hired major U.S. lobbying firms to represent his interests in the United States. There are signs indicating that these lobbyists have been working with officials in the U.S. State Department with the attempt to secure an entry visa for Thaksin Shinawatra. As stated by U.S. laws prohibiting any person with criminal records, especially a convicted fugitive, from entering the United States, we strongly urge the U.S. Administration to carefully examine this matter and to ensure that no visa entry will be granted to ex-Thai Prime Minister, Thaksin Shinawatra..
Like most U.S. citizens, we strongly believe in the rule of law of the United States and of course, Thailand. We abhor the reported broad-based colossal corruption by the current regime in Thailand, headed by Yingluck Shinawatra, the younger sister of Thaksin Shinawatra. The massive corruption of her administration and her incompetency in running the government has resulted in widespread inflation and hardship throughout Thailand. The resentment felt by the mass against the current regime in Thailand and Thaksin Shinawatra is growing very quickly.
The issue of whether the U.S. will grant an entry visa to Thaksin Shinawatra is profoundly sensitive to Thai-Americans and the people of Thailand. In addition to Thai people everywhere, governments and good people around the world are watching the U.S. State Department very closely to see if the U.S. government will live up to its claim as the world’s leader on ethics, morality, democratic principles, anti-corruption and human right issues. To protect the good name of the U.S. government and American people from being foolishly tarnished by a single foreign fugitive Thaksin Shinawatra, we hereby strongly urge the State Department of the U.S. to deny a visa to Thaksin Shinawatra for following reasons:
1. To adhere to the U.S. laws, moral standards, and ethical practices.
2. To avoid association with a corrupt regime, and a loss of goodwill and legitimacy with the Thai people in the event of an Arab-Spring style uprising against the present government.
3. America needs to stand firm for democracy and its ideal of respecting the rule of law and human rights. The U.S. Administration must not allow Thaksin Shinawatra, who not only has been accused of countless, well publicized and documented human rights violations, but also convicted by the Thai supreme court for corruption, (not to mention many other of charges of corruption and abuse of power still pending against him) to enter the United States..
Instead of forging the future of U.S. relations with Thaksin Shinawatra, we strongly urge the U.S. Administration to heed our requests stated in this letter, and side with the great majority of the people of Thailand for a secure and truly democratic government and society in Thailand that will be strong and enduring just like in the U.S. America and Thailand have been good friends and close allies for almost 200 years. We sincerely hope the relationship between our two beloved countries will continue to be good and strong for forever. Though he was on good terms with Thaksin Shinawatra, President George W. Bush refused to allow the convicted ex-Thai PM to set his feet in the U.S. during his presidential term. We sincerely hope that President Obama, and the related governmental agencies as well as Congressional members of both Houses will be far-sighted and prudent to reject Thaksin Shinawatra’s entry visa application not allowing his dirty feet, bloody hands, and corrupted mind to contaminate the U.S. soil.
