Singapore will buy two more Type-218SG submarines from Germany's ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems in addition to the two announced previously in 2013, as part of its Navy's modernisation efforts, Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen announced May 16.

The two new submarines will be due for delivery from 2024 onwards.
