Chilean scientists study "superbacteria" of Antartica to give answers to public health matters, since the indiscriminate use of antibiotics has derived in the appearance of multi-resistant bacteria, difficult to control with conventional medicines.
These "superbacteria", for their resistance to extreme conditions, would be key in the generation of medicines that can be able to knock down the growing resistance to antibiotics, according to a study relased by Chilean scientists on May 20, 2015.
