RIO DE JANEIRO (AFP) - A 56-year-old Belgian professor died Wednesday after being hit by a stray bullet during an argument in Rio's central tourist district of Lapa, police said.
Named as Dominique Boxus, the professor was killed after a man fired from a car on two others embroiled in a row near a bar.
A police spokesman told AFP police had interviewed witnesses to the shooting of Boxus, a professor of literature at Niteroi University on the other side of Guanabara Bay from Rio.
Boxus was hit in the heart and died on the way to hospital.
