VIENNA (AFP) - Japanese avant-garde artist and peace activist Yoko Ono has been awarded the 20,000-euro ($26,100) Oskar-Kokoschka-Prize in Austria, organisers said Wednesday.
Ono, 78, Beatle John Lennon's widow, is an "outstanding artistic personality," jury president Gerald Bast said. She is due to pick up the prize, named after Austrian painter Oskar Kokoschka (1886-1980), in March.
