BOGOTA (AFP) - Colombian health authorities confirmed Monday that US multinational Procter & Gamble had voluntarily pulled from the market five varieties of its Oral B mouthwash because of bacterial contamination.
The mouthwash, which was made in Colombia, was contaminated with the microorganism Burkholderia anthina, said Colombia's National Institute of Food and Drug Monitoring (INVIMA).
INVIMA said the micro-organism posed no risk to healthy persons, although it could cause adverse affects for people with weakened immune systems. So far, it added, no problems had yet been reported.
INVIMA said the product recall extended to all countries where the mouthwash was sold.
