Bangkok (AFP) - More than 100,000 American teenagers and adults travel to Mexico over spring break each year. Mexican beaches are popular among students and office workers who want to take a break from their school and work. Mexico is still one of the top destinations for travelers.
Being affordable and near the state, Mexico attracts a lot of travelers during the spring break.
Although the State Department has recently issued its travel alert for some areas such as Michoac?n, Durango, Coahuila and Chihuahua, the alert excludes Sonara.
Mexico, a federal constitutional republic in the North America, covers nearly two million square kilometres. It is the fifth largest country in the United States.
97 percent of the population speak Spanish. Mexico is therefore the largest Spanish-speaking country in the world according to wikipedia website.
Spring break starts in mid-February for some schools and in April for a few schools as well. Generally speaking, most schools take a spring break in March.
