BANGKOK (AFP) - Thai auto exports dropped 6.25 percent in November as European and American markets continued to show poor demand, an industry group said Thursday.

Thailand's export value dropped to 27.6 billion baht (827.3 million dollars), from 28.0 billion baht in October, exporting a total of 58,665 units, said a spokesman for the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) auto club.

"Our exports to Asian countries and Australia improved, posting gains for the second consecutive month, but the European,

African, and central and south American markets were still negative," Surapong Paisitpatpong told AFP.

But he said the rate of decline year-on-year had slowed in European and American markets.

In the first 11 months of the year Thailand exported 481,963 units, a fall of 34.25 percent from the same period last year.

The FTI auto club forecast that auto exports would reach 530,000 units this year, which would signal a fall of 32 percent from 2008.
