Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – Most of Thai people said their expenses exceeding their incomes, and needy people turned to illegal sources of loan more, according to a real-time survey.
ABAC Poll reported 52.4 percent of respondents did not have enough money to cover their expenses.
40.6 percent said their expenses and incomes were equal, according to the poll’s results in April.
Only 7 percent reported they had incomes more than expenses.
24 percent depended on illegal sources of loan, 24 percent on village funds as well as cooperatives’ loans, and 17 percent on commercial banks’ loans.
14 percent of Thais turned to pawnshops.
Concerns over illegal sources of loan were expressed since illegal loan borrowings could lead to more physical harm and crimes.
The interest of illegal loans is normally higher than the rate set by the law, but government units are unable to examine the sources.
