Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – More than 300 members of the Government Pension Fund (GPF) this morning rallied in front the Government House to urge the government to dismiss Visit Tantisunthorn, GPF secretary general.
The group also urged the government to cancel GPF operation, demanding compensation for members.
They said compensation payment should be made without condition due to mismanagement.
The group threatened that 1.1 million members nationwide would cancel their membership if Mr. Visit did not resign from the post.
They vowed to stop paying money to the fund and urge their members to file a lawsuit against the GPF board.
GPF members also called for the establishment of a tripartite committee to consider those demands.
The committee is supposed to comprise GPF, government and GPF members.
A sub-committee to examine GPF’s management will meet on March 20.
Finance Minister Korn Chatikavanich said GPF members’ demands would be considered by the sub-committee, and results would be known within 30 days.
