Bangkok (ASTV Manager Online) – Eating dog meat will not help warm people’s body since this is a groundless belief, according to the public health ministry.
Dr. Vattana Kanchanakamol confirmed eating dog meat was dangerous because people could get rabies or parasites.
Villagers in Sanpatong District, Chiang Mai still believed that eating dog meat would warm their body and help them survive the winter season well.
The price of dog meat is 150 baht per kilogram. Dog meat balls are also sold at the price of 20 baht per three sticks. Customers are both adults and children.
Construction workers preferred cooking black dog meat.
Villagers in Muang and Sarapee District said dogs were often stolen during winter.
The Lanna Dog Rescue group disagreed to dog meat eating since there are other kinds of meat people can take.
The group reported that even temples had to close their doors carefully to prevent both theft and dog stealing.
