Bangkok - The Bahamas government is ready to send its envoy to ask for the world community’s certification for allowing the former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra to set up his government in exile.
The Tribune, famous daily newspaper in Bahamas, reported that Bahamas government not only gave the honorary citizenship to Thaksin, but also permitted him to set up a government in exile there.
Such setup would let the ex-premier call for justice from the world stage as the government which was elected by most Thais.
It was reported the Bahamas foreign ministry ordered its officials to ask for world community’s approval for Thaksin’s government in exile.
Approval would be first sought in the American continent.
Barbados, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Grenada, and Saint Vincent and Granadines reportedly planned to certify Thaksin as Thailand’s premier.
The Bahamas, officially known as the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, is an independent English-speaking country.
