Bangkok - HRH Princess Sirindhorn will attend the 12th UNCTAD conference in Ghana, according to Foreign Affairs Ministry.
Foreign Affairs Minister Noppadon Pattama said Princess Sirindhorn would represent Thailand to join the conference upon the invitation by the government of Ghana and UNCTAD Secretary-General Supachai Panichpakdi.
The event is scheduled to take place in Accra, Ghana during April 20-25.
Thailand will emphasize the self-sufficiency economy philosophy initiated by HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej and take this chance to present the government’s economic policy to the UN stage to bring back confidence from the international community.
Princess Siridhorn will speak on the topic of “ICT for Development”.
200 staff and officers from the UNCTAD Secretariat arrived in Ghana on Wednesday to ensure a smooth forum.
About 450 staff of the UNCTAD will attend the meeting.
Heads of state from Brazil, Nigeria, Tanzania, Turkey, Algeria, Senegal, Finland and El Savador are among those who have already confirmed their participation.
The theme of the conference is “Addressing the opportunity and challenges of development".
UNCTAD comprises 198 states as member countries.
