Bangkok - Public Health Minister Chaiya Sasomsap gave an interview to the press that he would not resign from his post, saying he would only quit if the Constitutional Court ruled against him.
Mr. Chaiya was found to conceal his wife’s stock holdings.
The National Counter Corruption Commission (NCCC) ruled that Chaiya broke the law as he failed to report his wife’s more than five percent shareholding in a private hotel firm.
PM Samak Sundaravej yesterday told the media that Chaiya possibly resigned as Public Health Minister.
Chaiya vowed to do his duty until the Constitutional Court ruled he was not suitable for the post.
Previously, health activists gathered 20,000 signatures to call for his impeachment as he threatened to cancel the generic drug program.
He also sparked a debate when appointing Wan Yoobamrung, son of Interior Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung, to join his team.
