Bangkok 008 - The Royal Trophy golf tournament has been postponed to show respect for HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana, who died from cancer on Wednesday at the age of 84.
The third edition of the event had been scheduled for January 11-13 at the Amata Spring Country Club in Bangkok.
The event will be rescheduled at a later date, according to AFP.
The Royal Trophy has been postponed as Thailand goes into a period of mourning following the death of Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana, the elder sister of His Majesty King Bhumibol, according to a statement from the European PGA Tour.
"The Thai government announced a 15-day mourning period and asked that festive activities be suspended during this time as a mark of respect."
The Royal Trophy, which was donated by HM the King, is inspired by the enormously popular Ryder Cup, where teams from the United States and Europe compete.
