BANGKOK (AFP) - Flag carrier Thai Airways International said Wednesday it has signed a code-sharing pact with its Portuguese counterpart TAP-Portugal to meet rising demand from European tourists.
The agreement, effective in June, covers flights connecting Bangkok and Lisbon via major European cities, Thai Airways said in a statement.
TAP-Portugal, a state-controlled airline, cut services to Bangkok in 1998 but with the code-sharing the airline aims to bring more European passengers to Thailand and Asia.
Code sharing allows an airline to put its identification code on the flights of another airline and so enlarges their network of flights and destinations.
