MOSCOW, January 9 (Itar-Tass) -- An Il-76 plane of the Russian Ministry for Civil Defense and Emergencies landed in Phuket, Thailand, at 4:10 p.m. Moscow time on Sunday, a source in the ministry’s aviation service told Itar-Tass. The plane delivered mobile power plants and bed linen.
That was the second humanitarian aid shipment of the ministry to Thailand. A ministerial plane brought three tonnes of drinking water to the island in late December. Russian rescuers gave humanitarian assistance to Sri Lanka and Indonesia. Another humanitarian aid shipment to Sri Lanka will be made in the night of January 11, the ministry press service said.
Planes of the Russian Air Force are also making humanitarian flights to tsunami-stricken countries of Southeast Asia.
