จวนเจียนจะมาถึงอยู่แล้วสำหรับมหกรรมโชว์เกมที่ยิ่งใหญ่ที่สุดในโลก “E3” หรือ Electronic Entertainment Expo ที่เวียนมาบรรจบอีกครั้งในปีนี้ 9-12 พ.ค.ที่ลอสแองเจลิส คอนเวนชั่น เซ็นเตอร์ ในลอสแองเจลิส สหรัฐอเมริกา เชื่อกันว่าในปีนี้จะมีทีเด็ดที่เกมเมอร์ห้ามกระพริบตาระหว่าง 2 ค่ายเกมยักษ์ใหญ่ โซนี่และนินเทนโด
ทางสมาคมซอฟท์แวร์บันเทิง หรือ ESA (Entertainment Software Association)ได้เปิดเผยข้อมูลเบื้องต้นเกี่ยวกับงาน E3 2006 นี้ว่าจะมีบริษัทต่างๆยื่นความจำนงเข้าร่วมงานเพื่อโชว์ผลิตภัณฑ์ของตัวเองมากกว่า 400 บริษัท จาก 90 ประเทศ บนพื้นที่ 540,000 ตารางฟุต และมีผู้นำในอุตสาหกรรมเกมมากกว่า 175 แห่งจัดการบรรยาย ประชุม และเวิร์คช็อปให้แก่ผู้ที่สนใจ
ทั้งนี้บริษัทที่มาร่วมงานจะนำเสนอทั้งเกมและผลิตภัณฑ์ต่างๆราว 1,000 ชิ้นที่ไม่เคยเห็นมาก่อน และมีบริษัทเกมเกือบครึ่ง (49 %) จะนำเกมพกพาของตัวเองท่อย่างน้อย 1 เกม ร่วมเปิดตัวในงาน ขณะที่ผู้จัดแสดงราว 2 ใน 3 (60 %) จะโชว์เกมที่วางขายช่วงวันหยุดยาวสิ้นปีนี้
11 % ของบริษัทเกมจะนำเสนอเกมอย่างน้อย 1 เกม ที่มีฟีเจอร์ของคนดังๆหรือนักแสดงที่มากด้วยความสามารถมาร่วมด้วย ประกอบไปด้วย ผู้กำกับ นักเขียนบท และนักดนตรี ส่วนบริษัทเกมอีกประมาณ 10 % จะขนเกมหรือผลิตภัณฑ์อย่างน้อย 1 เกมที่ทำมาเพื่อสุขภาพหรือการออกกำลังกาย
นอกจากนี้ ภายในงานจะมีเครื่องคอมพิวเตอร์จอแบนมากว่า 5,800 เครื่องและจอทีวีเพื่อแสดงพื้นที่การจัดงาน โดยมีเครื่องมือที่มีน้ำหนักกว่า 850,000 ปอนด์ติดตั้งอยู่บนเพดานที่จัดงาน พร้อมด้วยพรมที่ใช้ปูพื้นถึง 79,000 ตารางหลา รวมถึงแบนเนอร์โฆษณาที่ห้อยในงานถึง 110,000 ตารางฟุต
