“จอห์น บาทิสต์” คือศิลปินที่คว้ารางวัลมากที่สุดบนเวทีการมอบรางวัล “แกรมมี่อวอร์ดส์” ในปีนี้ รวมถึงรางวัลใหญ่อย่างอัลบัมยอดเยี่ยม นอกจากนั้นก็ยังมีทั้ง Silk Sonic, “โอลิเวีย โรดริโก” ที่เป็นดาวเด่นและคว้ารางวัลไปได้หลายสาขา
โดยในปีนี้มีการมอบรางวัลแกรมมี่อวอร์ดส์แบ่งเป็นสองช่วง ทั้งการมอบรางวัลสาขาหลักที่ถ่ายทอดสดทางโทรทัศน์ และการมอบรางวัลในสาขาร้องก่อนหน้านั้นที่มีการถ่ายทอดสดผ่านทางเว็บไซต์ของแกรมมี่ และทาง YouTube
ซึ่งพิธีกรดำเนินรายการปีนี้คือ “เทรเวอร์ โนอาห์” รับหน้าที่เป็นพิธีกรปีที่2 ติดต่อกัน ดาวตลกคนดังได้พูดเปิดเวทีโดยระบุว่า
“เมื่อไหร่ก็ตามที่คนถามผมว่าการแสดงไหนที่ผมตื่นเต้นมากที่สุด ผมได้รู้ว่าคำตอบของผมส่วนใหญ่คือโกหกทั้งนั้นเลย เพราะว่าผมแทบไม่เคยได้ดูการแสดงเลย ผมก็มีคนที่ผมอยากดูอยู่นะ แต่แล้วผมก็ต้องเซอร์ไพรส์ อย่างปีที่แล้วคือตัวอย่างที่ดีที่สุด..คุณไม่รู้เลยใครจะพาใครขึ้นมาบนเวที คุณไม่รู้เลยว่ามันจะมีอะไรที่ต่างออกไป คุณไม่รู้เลยว่าจะมีใครมานอนกลิ้งบนเตียงใหญ่แล้วทเวิร์กอยู่บนนั้น ปีนี้ผมเลยตื่นเต้นที่จะได้ดูการแสดงของทุกคน นั่นคือสิ่งที่ทำให้Grammyสุดวิเศษ มันเป็นคอนเสิร์ตที่ยิ่งใหญ่ที่สุดในรอบปี บนเวทีที่มีทุกสิ่งทั้ง คันทรี, ฮิปฮอป, แจ๊ซ นั่นคือสิ่งที่ผมชอบ”
นอกจากนั้นเขายังมพลาดที่จะเล่นมุขจากเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นบนเวทีออสการ์โดยระบุว่า “เราจะมาฟังเพลงกัน มาเต้นรำ มาร้องเพลงกัน เราจะไม่พูดชื่อใครออกมาจากปากเรา และเราจะมอบรางวัลกันตลอดค่ำคืนนี้”

นอกจากนั้นในช่วงหนึ่งของงานยังมีการไว้อาลัยให้กับการจากไปของ เทย์เลอร์ ฮอว์กินส์ มือกลองของ Foo Fighters ที่เสียชีวิตอย่างกะทันหันเมื่อสัปดาห์ก่อน โดยก่อนหน้านี้ Foo Fighters มีกำหนดจะขึ้นแสดงในงานมอบรางวัลปีนี้ด้วย แต่ก็ได้ถอนตัวออกไปเพราะเกิดความสูญเสียขึ้น
