ประกาศแล้วสำหรับรายชื่อผู้เข้าชิงรางวัล “ลูกโลกทองคำ” ครั้งที่ 72 โดยหนังเด่นในปีนี้ได้แก่ Birdman ที่มีชื่อชิงรางวัล 7 สาขา ส่วน Boyhood และ The Imitation Game ชิง 5 สาขา
ส่วนที่ถือว่าสร้างความแปลกใจให้กับหลายฝ่ายก็คือ เจนนิเฟอร์ อนิสตัน ที่ได้ชิงรางวัลนักแสดงนำหญิงยอดเยี่ยมประเภทดรามาจากภาพยนตร์เรื่อง Cake ส่วนหนังดังอย่าง Interstellar กับ Gone Girl ก็พลาดโอกาสชิงรางวัลภาพยนตร์ยอดเยี่ยมไปอย่างน่าเสียดาย แต่สำหรับเรื่องหลังยังมีลุ้นในสาขาผู้กำกับยอดเยี่ยม
โดยงานมอบรางวัลลูกโลกทองคำครั้งที่ 72 จะมีขึ้นในวันที่ 11 ม.ค. 2015 ซึ่งทาง NBC จะถ่ายทอดสดจาก Beverly Hilton Hotel ในแคลิฟอร์เนีย โดย 2 สาว ทีนา เฟย์ กับ เอมี โพห์เลอร์ รับหน้าที่ดำเนินรายการเป็นปีที่ 2 ติดต่อกัน
